While we have been craving a serene getaway, Fairmont Maldives, Sirru Fen Fushi, has been inviting guests to their “Secret Water Island,” located in Shaviyani Atoll. Sweeping the beautiful island’s shores are the turquoise waters of the 600-hectare lagoon that open up to the gorgeous Indian Ocean and the infinite.

A dream destination, the property is embellished with fabulous beach villas, lavish overwater villas, and deluxe tented jungle villas. The resort is home to the longest infinity pool in the archipelago, which naturally leads to the Coralarium, an underwater art installation created by Jason deCaires Taylor. It is a coral regeneration project, the first of its kind in the Maldives.

Fairmont is committed to protecting and preserving this area’s corals and other marine life. Trying to empathize with life beyond our own and retaining the pristine environment, the property has developed an ambitious project, “the Sustainability Lab.” This project aims to recycle every bit of plastic waste generated by the local communities and the resort. As an additional step, they would also clean the surrounding ocean of all traces of plastic. As they say, “little drops of water make a mighty ocean!”
